Finn is adorable, while Christie is an ambitious, but loving mother who will do anything she can just to keep the two of them afloat. I don’t want to ruin the plot of this book too much because it is a great book and I don’t want to ruin it for anyone before they’ve even started. However, when Finn suddenly falls ill Christie struggles to juggle work and family, and before long finds herself jobless… until an opportunity too good to miss comes along. Christie, a single mum is doing her best to make ends meet and keep her head above water, while also pursuing her hobby of card/craft making. In “Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses” we join Christie and her son Finn as together they face what life throws at them. This is another summery chick lit read which I loved. I love Carole Matthews’ books and actually bought this book around a year ago, but weirdly I hadn’t picked it up off my bookcase until the other week. My latest read is “Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses” by Carole Matthews. I’ve finally finished another book, and I have already shared it on An Historian About Town’s blog but today I thought I’d share it on my blog 🙂 I loved the characters, especially Joe and it was quite a relatable book.Īll in all I loved this book and would really recommend it to anyone looking for a light summer read 🙂 It wasn’t an overly predictable read though like some chick lit books can be and I really enjoyed it.

It was very forward and backward between Joe and Mason though with Ruby seeming a bit easy to take advantage of, but that said it was an enjoyable read and I totally understand Ruby’s reasoning for going forward and backward as much as she did. He can give her everything she wants… except a settle down type relationship. Then comes along Mason, Ruby’s attentive boss. Ruby and Joe get on incredibly well but Joe has a constant juggling act meaning he can’t give Ruby what he wants. Joe is recently split up from his cheating with and single handedly looks after 2 teenage kids. She decides to pick up a new hobby to fill her time with, scuba diving. She is fully ready to embrace single life and doesn’t want a new relationship. Ruby has recently divorced from her husband and is looking for a new perspective on single life. It was exactly what I wanted to read and I read my way through it pretty quickly 🙂 I bought “A Million Love Songs”, “Stately Pursuits” and “The Summer Seaside Kitchen”.Ī Million Love Songs is Carole Matthew’s latest book and it really did not disappoint. Plus I hadn’t really treated myself to anything for a while so I decided to buy a few new books on Amazon. I’ve finally finished another book! 😀 I don’t feel like my reading is going very well so far this year, I think now having my job means I have less time for reading 😦Īnyway, after finishing Paper Hearts and Summer Kisses I was having a bit of a Carole Matthews hangover and wanted to read another of her books.
